A STOLEN BMW was destroyed after crashing into a number of parked vehicles as the driver fled from police.
A manhunt has now been launched to find the driver who managed to flee the scene of the crash in Eastwood Road North, Leigh, at roughly 2am on Tuesday, September 26.
Police initially received reports of a stolen BMW, which was spotted by police, but the driver failed to stop when ordered to do so by officers.
Shortly after it failed to stop, the car was found after crashing into a number of parked vehicles.
At time of writing no arrests have been made, but the authorities are actively conducting investigations to identify the individuals associated with the stolen car.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision between the stolen car and the parked vehicles.
Laurie Burton, Blenheim Park ward Labour councillor, reportedly said: “Around Eastwood Road North, there are lots of families with young children and schools.
“It is incredibly concerning someone was driving dangerously in these roads.
“It is fortunate the situation was not a whole lot worse, which it could have been.”
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Officers were alerted to the presence of BMW which had been reported as stolen in the Leigh area in the early hours of Tuesday, September 26.
“That car then failed to stop when requested by the officers.
“A short time after, the vehicle was located in Eastwood Road having collided with a number of parked vehicles.
“Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
“No arrests have been made at this time; however, enquiries are ongoing to try and locate the occupants of the vehicle.”
Essex Police added they are looking for witnesses to the incident to come forward: “We need anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information on it to get in touch.
