FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze at a three-storey property in Westcliff.
On the evening of August 10, at approximately 8:56 pm, Essex Fire Services received an emergency call regarding a fire incident at a mid-terrace property situated on St. Helens Road.
Responding promptly to the scene, multiple firefighting teams were dispatched, including two crews from Southend, one from Leigh, and another from Rayleigh Weir.
Additionally, an aerial ladder platform from Grays was also deployed to address the situation.
Thankfully, all occupants of the property were confirmed to be safe and accounted for.
The fire had originated in the loft space of the building.
As a precautionary measure, local residents were advised to keep their doors and windows closed in order to prevent the spread of smoke while the fire crews worked to bring the situation under control.
By approximately 11:00 pm, the firefighters had successfully extinguished the fire and remained at the scene to address any remaining hotspots and ensure the situation was completely under control.
Marc Diggory, group manager, said: “We believe the fire started in a bedroom on the top floor of the three-storey property and crews did a fantastic job of stopping it from spreading.
“Crews are extinguishing hotspots, and we hope to scale down the incident and reopen roads in the area soon; thank you to residents for your patience.”
Essex Fire say an investigation will be carried out to establish the cause.
