HUNDREDS of people watched Cricketing legends compete with Hadleigh & Thundersley Cricket Club for a summer of sport and awards.

Nearly 800 people, some 300 with hospitality, watched icons of cricket including Mark Ramprakash, Mathew Hoggard and Monty Panesar at an annual collaboration between Hadleigh & Thundersley Cricket Club and ex-England PCA (Professional Cricketers’ Association) members.

There was also prize giving for the children’s tournament with the final taking place during the break of innings, and medals presented by the Castle Point Borough Council Mayor and Rebecca Harris MP.

The Professional Cricketers’ Association is the representative body of past and present first-class cricketers in England and Wales, founded in 1967 by former England fast bowler Fred Rumsey.

Kevan Jenkinson explained: “It was a great afternoon enjoyed by all.

“The event allows us to promote cricket and our club within the community and help raise funds to replace our dilapidated nets.

“We are now 2-1 up against the PCA we look forward to seeing them again next year.”
