A LEIGH Care Home has announced the success of one of their team members, who was recognised at this year’s National Dementia Care Awards
Jessica Davies, who works at Admiral Court care home was awarded the ‘Inspiring Leader’ title at a glittering awards ceremony.
The event took place at Winchester Cathedral on Thursday July 13.
The awards, which were first established in 2009 by The Journal of Dementia Care, seek to acknowledge care providers and individuals who have made a significant difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia.
General Manager at Admiral Court Susan Cruse said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Jess has received the recognition she deserves for the hard work, dedication and passion shown to our residents at Admiral Court.”
Ms Davies added: “I am feeling so empowered to be recognised for the national dementia award, the dementia strategy, the dementia training is just miles apart from what I have ever known – it’s easy to be inspiring when you have the right tools in the bag.”
The judges commented: “This individual impressed the judges with her description of how she implemented her vision and inspired others to join in the journey of change.
“The individual spoke from the heart, sharing her own experiences of supporting a family member and describing how this has shaped her practice. Finally, she explained how she would connect with the wider community, encouraging others to come and work with people living with dementia and their families.”
