A WESTCLIFF theatre is rolling out a new season celebrating the best in local live music.
Southend Theatres have announced the return of the Dixon Sessions at the Palace Theatre, with the first session on Friday 25 April featuring Out of the Mist and The Ondines.
A spokesperson said: “Southend has a rich and thriving music scene stretching back over many years.
“It is to showcase the variety of talent on offer in the city, that the Dixon Sessions return with a great line up to kick the new season off on Friday 25 April.”
They add: “Out of The Mist are a Southend based acoustic duo. Their blend of folk, jazz and blues interwoven with spiritually driven lyrics brings delight for both ears and heart. The pair also will be performing their latest single Woman Don’t Tear Me Down, which was recently featured on BBC Introducing.
“The all-woman DIY band, The Ondines formed one night in the iconic Railway pub through a shared desire to make empowering music and have fun.
“Starting life as an acoustic trio, The Ondines have grown into a five, occasionally six-piece with attitude and bangers to back it up.
“The Ondines’ sound is eclectic, taking cues from the vintage harmonies of Crosbie, Stills and Nash, the girl group charm of the Shangri-Las, and the rebellious energy of The Slits.
“Both bands deliver great music so, to discover new artists, rediscover old favourites in new incarnations and to have a brilliant night out, check out the Dixon Sessions.”
Future sessions will be held in June and July. Book online at palacetheatresouthend.co.uk or call 0343 310 0300. Tickets are just £12.
