A LEIGH Boat Company delivered an unforgettable experience when a pod of dolphins lit up a coastal excursion.
The journey began with Brownes Epic Forts Tour boat trip taking Maria and her family on a scenic cruise past Southend Pier, before venturing out to explore wartime relics like the Mulberry Harbour, Knock John Forts, Shivering Sands Forts, and the Red Sands Maunsell Forts.
Whilst a visit to the SS Richard Montgomery, an intriguing shipwreck, added a mysterious element to the tour, it was a breathtaking encounter on the Thames Estuary that truly stole the show.
Seemingly out of nowhere, a pod of over 20 dolphins burst into view, leaping and playing around the boat.
Passengers aboard the Starfish were thrilled to witness such a rare and magical sight, with dolphins of all sizes—including calves—putting on a stunning display.
Angus Browne, skipper and owner of Browne’s Thames Estuary Boat Trips said: “We could not believe it as they were following us in the Thames Estuary.
“Our passengers onboard absolutely loved it and got loads of photos & videos of the dolphins having lots of fun.
“There was a mixture of all sizes including baby dolphins.
“This was truly an amazing experience for everyone onboard and made the trip even more memorable, it’s not every day we see them in our waters.”
Starfish Tours continues to delight visitors with incredible experiences like this—though dolphin sightings remain a rare and cherished surprise!
