A DRAMATIC early morning raid saw armed police break down the door of a Rochford District home, where they seized a vast quantity of cash and Class A drugs.

Essex Police, assisted by firearms officers, carried out the raid in Mercer Avenue, Great Wakering, at 9.30am on Monday, June 5, after being tipped off about the sale of drugs from the property. This was part of Operation Falcon, which aims to target suspected drug dealers across Essex.

A 38-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs. They have both since been bailed until July 27.

The amount of drugs and cash seized has yet to be specified.

Daniel Efde, Conservative councillor for Foulness and the Wakerings ward in Rochford, praised the police for their work getting the drugs off the streets.

He said: “It sounds like the police did a really good job with this, so my praise to the officers.

“Hopefully there will be a sentence out of this, and that we can get these people and the drugs off of our streets.

“This isn’t something we want or want to see in Rochford at all.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “A man and a woman have been arrested following a warrant in Great Wakering.

“Officers from our operation falcon and community policing teams, supported by approved firearms officers and the dog section, carried out a warrant in Mercer Avenue around 9.30am on Monday, June 5.

“Officers seized a quantity of substances believed to be drugs, together with cash.

“A man, aged 38, and a woman, aged 36, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

“They have both been bailed to July 27.”
