A TEENAGER has been charged with drugs and weapons offences following work by officers on patrol in Rochford.

Officers were on mobile patrol at around 4.30pm on Sunday (9 February) when they became aware of someone on an e-scooter who then tried to evade them.

The rider eventually ditched the e-scooter in Ashingdon Road and made off, but was pursued by the officers on foot and detained.

When searched, officers found a knife and an amount of cannabis.

A 16 year-old boy was arrested and has since been charged with possession of a knife in a public place, possession of a Class B drug, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving without insurance.

He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on 4 March.
