A LOCAL amateur dramatic group will be presenting a play this summer.
The East Essex Players will perform Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘A Chorus of Disapproval’ at the Dixon Studio, Palace Theatre, Westcliff.
The play tells the tale of Guy Jones, a recent widower, who tries to escape his loneliness by joining an amateur operatic society that is trying to put on The Beggar’s Opera.
Once there, he discovers that the drama on stage is quite often nothing compared to what’s happening behind the scenes: seduction, romance, faction fighting, and the inevitable jealousy.
As he progresses to better and better roles in the show, his dalliances with the member’s wives threaten to derail the entire production.
The show takes place Wednesday 12 to Saturday July 15.
