Eco Education Award

A PRIMARY school in Rochford is celebrating a significant milestone after receiving one of the highest awards for environmental education.
Waterman Primary School, in The Boulevard, has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction, reflecting the school’s commitment to sustainability and building awareness among pupils about protecting the environment.
This is reinforced by the school’s pupil-led eco team, which has played a key role in reducing waste and promoting greener habits across the school.
Miss Chani Allott, eco lead at the school, said: “We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Green Flag Award with distinction from Eco-Schools England.
“This recognition reflects the passion and commitment of our pupils and staff to making a real difference to the environment.”
The award builds on other green credentials, with the Woodland Trust’s Green Tree Schools Platinum Award achieved earlier this academic year.
Head of school Mr Brian Casey added: “Achieving the Eco Schools Green Flag Award with distinction is a tremendous moment for Waterman Primary School and for our community.
“It recognises the commitment our children show every day by caring for the environment and it reflects the values at the heart of our work.
“For us, this award is more than a badge, it shows how a small school can be bold in its ambition and truly redefine possibilities for its pupils.
“I am incredibly proud of our children and staff for embracing this journey with such enthusiasm.
“Our Eco Lead, Chani Allott, has supported this work with real dedication, this distinction belongs to the whole Waterman community.
“It represents the future we are building together and the belief that our children can make a meaningful difference in the world.”
