Floribeth Peña de Amador and her family had to rush out of their home on the night of April 12 as flames and smoke engulfed their house on Woodcutters Avenue.

The family, who have lived there for 10 years, lost the whole house and everything in it.

In 20 minutes, the family had their entire lives turned upside down, and in desperation,  Ms Peña de Amador set up a GoFundMe page to ask for the community’s help.

In her heartfelt statement, she said:  “We have lived in this house for more than 10 years and we have the most beautiful memories.

“This is a really difficult situation for me and my family, so if you can help us in any way, we will be forever grateful.”

Since the fundraising page was set up, nearly £8,00 has been raised from supporters and well-wishers.

Ms Peña de Amador, 44, thanked everyone for their generous donations: “Thank you so much all!

“You are really amazing and we are humbled and overwhelmed by your generosity and help overall.

“Needless to say, we feel incredibly lucky and blessed to be part of this community.

“Thank you to all my amazing friends and family for helping us out in this difficult moment of our lives.”

At the time of writing, the family are staying in a B&B, but they are looking for somewhere to stay with their three children and three dogs, making a call out for a rented three or four-bedroom house in the Leigh area.

Fairways Preschool Committee has been sharing lists of clothes and items the family needs on social media, including shoes, jumpers, trousers and more.
