THE Orpheus Singers, together with Southend Wind Orchestra, will perform their Annual Festival of Remembrance this November.
Held on Saturday, 9th at 7.30 PM at Kings Road URC (United Reformed Church), located in Crowstone Road, this poignant event, aimed at honouring the sacrifices made by servicemen and women, promises to be an evening of reflection, music, and remembrance.
Attendees will have the opportunity to witness military personnel in attendance, along with standard bearers.
The orchestra will perform pieces from Martin Ellerby’s Commemorations, Malcolm Arnold’s Padstow Lifeboat, and Edward Elgar’s Nimrod.
The choir will deliver a varied selection of pieces, including Carly Simon’s Let the River Run, Paul Mealor’s Wherever You Are, and Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria. Each song has been thoughtfully chosen to evoke themes of unity, reflection, and hope.
Audience participation will be warmly encouraged, with a chance to join in on a spirited Keep Smiling Through compilation and a selection of Songs of the Great War.
A traditional Act of Remembrance will be conducted by Reverend Geoff Wright of Kings Road URC, ensuring a solemn and respectful tribute to those who have served.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Royal British Legion and the Soldiers’ Sailors’ and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA), two organizations that continue to provide vital support to veterans and their families.
Tickets for this event are priced at £10 and are available by calling 07518 382390 or through the website www.theorpheussingers.co.uk.
