Leigh On Sea News. Flights To Alicante – SOUTHEND Airport has unveiled the eagerly anticipated return of easyJet flights to a highly sought-after holiday destination.

 After days of anticipation surrounding a significant announcement, budget airline easyJet has confirmed the relaunch of its Southend to Alicante route, which was last in operation in 2020.

 In the time before the pandemic, easyJet operated flights to Alicante 10 times a week, while Ryanair also provided five weekly flights on the same route.

 The removal of Alicante as a destination from Southend Airport left holidaymakers disheartened, prompting airport authorities to work tirelessly to reintroduce the Alicante service to their schedules.

 Starting on August 22, the revived route to the eagerly awaited holiday haven on the Costa Blanca coast joins the growing roster of easyJet destinations at the airport, including Malaga, Majorca, Faro, Paris, Geneva, and Amsterdam.

 John Upton, CEO of London Southend Airport, expressed excitement and pride in delivering flights to Alicante for passengers during the upcoming winter season. He highlighted the significance of this move, stating: “I look forward to welcoming friends and families back to London Southend as we celebrate this milestone in the coming weeks with the return of their favourite destination.”

 This announcement follows closely on the heels of easyJet’s introduction of a year-round flight to Amsterdam, as well as its addition of Paris and Geneva to their offerings this year.

 Scheduled to commence operations on Sunday, October 29, the route will operate twice a week, with flights departing on Thursdays and Sundays.

Fares are set to begin at £22.99.
