A CHARITY comedy night is set to take the Leigh Community Centre by storm.
An Unmissable Comedy Night takes place Saturday 26th October at 8pm, raising funds to help being back the Leigh Folk Festival in 2025.
The night is a collaboration with Little Smash Comedy, to bring audience members an opportunity to enjoy a night of laughter while supporting the beloved Leigh tradition, now in its fourth decade.
Organisers explain: “We need your support and you need to laugh!
“We’re hosting a special fundraising event at Leigh Community Centre on 26th October featuring incredible acts, and we invite you to join us for an unforgettable evening of comedy and community spirit.”
The line-up promises a varied and top-quality evening with Jack Skipper, Jonathan Pelham, Josh Baulf, Ross McGrane and John Oakes.
Jack Skipper has recently gone from being a carpet fitter to an internet sensation and full-time comedian, winning the New Comedian of the Year competition in 2022, and reaching the final of the Komedia New Act comedian 2023.
Jonathan Pelham has been featured on various popular shows like Live at the Apollo, Mock The Week, Alan Davies As Yet Untitled, Russell Howard’s Stand-up Central, Live from the BBC, and Bobby and Harriet Get Married.
Josh Baulf recently made his five-star, award-nominated Edinburgh Fringe debut, and has appeared on ITV, BBC Radio and his online sketches have amassed millions of views worldwide.
Called ‘Very funny’ by David Walliams, he is the winner of Get-Up Stand-Up, runner up at Leicester Square New Comedian and Finalist at Amused Moose National New Comic.
Ross McGrane, who “lights up the room like an arsonist with a can of petrol” (Russell Kane) is an established pro on the UK circuit and a Radio Essex Weekend Breakfast Presenter.
Ross has been official tour support for Russell Kane, Jayde Adams, Geoff Norcott, Esther Manito and Jordan Gray, as well as performing regularly in some of the country’s most prestigious venues.
John Oakes trained at the world famous Second City Improv in Chicago, and works regularly with some of the biggest names in the industry including Rufus Hound, Suki Website, Ruth Bratt, Neil Mallarkey, and Mike McShane, to name a few.
The venue of Leigh Community Centre is an intimate audience of just 200: “you are in for a great evening,” add the organisers.
