A CHARITY fashion show kicked off a year of fundraising for the Mayor of Southend.

On June 6, the Mayor, councillor Nigel Folkard, hosted a fashion show to raise funds for Southend in Sight and Southend Hospital’s Dandelion End of Life Care Room Appeal.

Each Mayor chooses charities at the beginning of their term that will be the beneficiaries of their fundraising activities throughout the year.

The initiative, at Genting Casino, was curated by Eliza Boutique of Hamlet Court Road and combined fashion and food in a sophisticated setting.

The Mayor said: “This was a fantastic way to begin my fundraising year.

“I’d like to thank everyone who attended and contributed.

“Your support will make a real difference to two organisations that do incredible work in our community.”

Eliza Boutique was thrilled to be involved in the event.

Owner Beverley said: “We were absolutely thrilled to be part of this special event and to help raise awareness for two causes that matter so much to the people of Southend.

“Fashion can be fun and empowering, but when combined with purpose, it becomes truly powerful.”
