Fundraising Retirement Concert

A LEIGH school took part in a special fundraising concert with a local music educational charity.
West Leigh School Boys Choir, led by Janet Walker, took part in an afternoon concert with The Music Man Project.
The concert raised £1,100 towards The Music Man Project’s Broadway appeal, which will see them perform their show ‘Music is Magic’ in New York in September.
The event also marked Janet walker’s final concert as the boys’ choir leader.
A spokesperson for The Music Man Project paid tribute to the years the music charity has worked with Mrs walker : “It was our privilege to take part in a very special afternoon concert with the fantastic West Leigh School Boys Choir at St Margaret’s Church in Leigh.
“After teaching generations of boys to sing for decades, their inspirational leader, Janet Walker, finally gave her last concert.
“We’ve collaborated with Jan and the school for many years and we’re so grateful for their fundraising for our charity.”
They added: “This concert raised an incredible £1,100 towards our Broadway appeal and featured special guest Marton Blesset playing his Tuba in the first ever public performance of our new piece ‘The Trumpy Tuba’!
“It was also brilliant to welcome two new students to our ambassador group. Well done Izzy and Mattew!”
The Music Man Project is a music education charity for people with learning disabilities founded in 2000 by its CEO David Stanley.
