A TV gladiator visited a school in Rochford to teach students about fitness and healthy living.

The Parent Teacher Association of Holt Farm Junior school in Ashingdon Road welcomed CrossFit athlete Zach George to inspire pupils and staff.

Having won the title of the UK’s fittest man in 2020, Mr George (otherwise known as STEEL from BBC’s Gladiators) is on a mission to improve health and wellbeing in UK schools.

Following his own transformation, Mr George has launched a series of workshops aimed at ages 3-16 that focus on boosting children’s self-confidence, as well as their knowledge on all things healthy eating, exercise and nutrition.

Mr George, who is known for his motto “anything is possible” gave a powerful hour-long assembly to pupils about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

His speech was themed “staying positive” and discusses the importance about never giving up on your goals.”

Children asked him questions about his personal journey, training routine, and life as a gladiator.

As part of the visit, each pupil received a free bottle of water to promote hydration along with the signed photo from Mr George.

Mrs Richardson, headteacher at Holt Farm Junior school, said: “Zach was a real inspiration and such a positive presence.

“His message about health positive mindset and resilience reflects our school values.”
