FUNDRAISING events held as part of a local art festival have raised money for a children’s chancer charity.
The Rayleigh Art Trail, which ran from June 1st to 14th, featured inspiring and inclusive fundraising sessions, organised by Caroline Parker from Rayleigh’s Studio 3 Art, and Danielle Belton, former leader of Rochford District Council, following funding from RDC through the UKSPF.
Arty Pots, hosted by Stuart Belton, saw youngsters gather at the WI Hall to decorate and take home their own piece of pottery, whilst Sip & Paint saw participates enjoy an inspiring art session whilst gathering together in The Half Moon public house.
Both events raised hundreds of pounds for this year’s charity, Gold Geese, which provides tailored practical and emotional support to families of children and young people fighting cancer.
Carline Parker said: “It’s been a real pleasure to work with local artists and businesses to bring Rayleigh Art Trail to the high street again for 2026.
“More schools, more businesses, more artists and activities – including a Sip and Paint event and a children’s art workshop – help to build on the Trail from last year.”
Ms Parker also spoke of the community enrichment that the events brought to the town: “The Trail brought more people to the high street and created a real community spirit that not only raises funds for Gold Geese, but builds support year on year.”
Katie Southgate, CEO and Founder of Gold Geese, commented: “I love seeing communities coming together – to celebrate art and to support local causes like Gold Geese.
“We are so grateful to be Rayleigh Art trails chosen charity this year.
“Our lovely Gold Girl, Skye 14, has lent the trail some of her art from when she was fighting Leukaemia and her being involved means so much. It’s been amazing to watch her go from a little girl on chemotherapy to a confident young lady.”
Danielle Belton added: “I love being able to help bring community events to life.
“The Art Trail serves so many purposes, not least supporting local businesses who benefit from the increased footfall and publicity.
“Participants can enjoy the Trail, win prizes by taking part in the daily selfie challenge and attend events such as Arty Pots and Sip & Paint.”
