GP Surgery Expands

RAYLEIGH and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, has given his support to proposals to expand a popular local GP surgery in Hockley.

 Mr Francois visited the Jones Family Practice, to hear about their proposals for a major first floor extension, to create up to eight new consulting rooms and additional teaching and office facilities.

 The new space is needed, as the practice has taken on an additional 2,000 patients in the last several years and now needs more capacity to help treat them.

 The proposals already have planning permission from Rochford District Council and now require approval from local NHS bosses, before construction, which should take less than a

year to complete, can begin.

 Commenting on his support for the new expansion, Mr Francois said: “I campaigned to help expand local GP surgeries during the recent General Election, so I believe I have a clear mandate from my constituents to support this scheme.

 “This extra capacity is greatly needed- and I hope to help persuade NHS bosses to give it the green light, so the work can begin.”
