The Haven Community Hub is located in Westcliff and open to all ages, with no membership required. A variety of classes, workshops and events run throughout the year at affordable prices to help raise funds for the charity.

These funds enable the charity to run the hub, offer discounted or free classes such as computing lessons and social gatherings, befriending visits and calls for lonely elderly in Southend, support and advice services, and respite care for people suffering from neurological conditions such as Dementia.

A spokesperson for the hub said: “The Haven Community Hub aim to put on a variety of events to attract all ages and help raise funds for other services.

“As the saying goes, ‘use us or loose us’. As an independent charity, not funded by the Council or NHS or affiliated to any larger charities, such as Age UK, the Haven Community Hub and Age Concern Southend are reliant on grants, sponsorship, corporate support, donations, classes and events in order to continue to help Southend age well and provide a community space for all.”
