ROCHFORD youngsters joined a litter pick group as they conducted the regular tidy up of the district.

Rochford District Litter Pick Group was out in force Hawkwell in mid-February.

Youngsters enjoyed the voluntary meet-up as a half term activity, during which time the group found wheel hubs, “fast gas” canisters, and 12 electronic vapes – all of which will be repurposed and put to good use at East Essex Hack Space.

The group also found flip-flops, 47p, a lighter and a great number of cans and bottles to recycle.

A spokesperson on Rochford District Litter Pick’s Facebook page said: “Happy litter picking school holidays!

“We had a few extra volunteers join us today in the sunshine including Jeremy, and brothers William and Ben, all giving their time to help during their holidays – thank you.

“Well done everyone for keeping Hawkwell and Hockley clear of rubbish.”

The spokesperson added that the money they find goes towards Fair Havens Hospice and the Woodland Trust charity.
