THE Leigh branch of the Royal British Legion is launching this year’s Poppy Appeal at the Leigh Community Centre, with a plea for the community to help in their efforts.
The branch needs volunteers to help sell poppies to provide support for members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their families, on a year that is also an important anniversary.
Keith Evans, Chair of the Leigh Branch said: “The Poppy Appeal 2024 begins this year on 24th October.
“This year marks the 80th anniversaries of momentous battles and turning points of the Second World War.”
Mr Evans added that all were welcome to the launch, at Kelly’s Kitchen in the Community Centre, on Saturday October 26.
“Please support and come and join us between 10am and 2pm for coffee, cake, Tombola and much more.”
He added: “We are also looking volunteers as collectors for Poppy Appeal 2024.
“If you can spare a few hours to help and are interested in volunteering, particularly collecting at local supermarkets, please email your details to Karen at: [email protected].”
