RESIDENTS enjoyed a festive trip to the pantomime, thanks to Leigh Town Council’s Community Transport scheme.
Members of the scheme went to see the Pantomime at Basildon’s Towngate Theatre on December 21.
Over 60s living within the Town Council Boundary can become a member of the Community Transport Group and enjoy outings and theatre trips with door-to-door travel included.
The Community Transport Scheme was set up in the late 90’s after the inception of the Council as a way to give something back to retired residents, and provides trips to local musicals, plays, concerts, shopping destinations, visits to gardens, museums and more.
A Leigh Town Council spokesperson said: “the Community Transport scheme is an excellent way to make friends with like-minded people and get out of the house!
Contact the council for an application form on 01702 716288 or email [email protected] or alternatively visit the council offices within Leigh Community Centre.”
