Leigh On Sea News: Homes Tax Question – RAYLEIGH & Wickford MP, Mark Francois, who has multiple park home estates in his constituency, has suggested abolishing the 10% levy on the sale of such homes, during Housing Questions in the House of Commons.

Mr Francois, has over half a dozen park home estates in his constituency, located mainly in Hullbridge & Hockley and providing homes for several hundred of his constituents.

The Government are now reviewing the results of a recent consultation into whether or not to abolish the 10% charge and during Housing Questions in the House of Commons the Housing and Planning Minister, Matthew Pennycook MP, revealed that the Government are now planning to announce the outcome of their Review: “before Christmas.”

Having heard this, Mr Francois took the “target of opportunity” to press the Minister on this issue.

Speaking about the exchange in the Commons, Mr Francois said: “I have received multiple emails from constituents in recent months about this issue, so I took the chance to pass on the strong wishes of my constituents living in park homes that the Government should scrap the 10% charge.

“The Minister agreed to take these representations into account but, as you can tell from my question, I hope that the Government will eventually relent.

“We should now hopefully have an answer on this, before the Commons rises for the Christmas Recess, on Thursday 17 December. Let’s hope it’s a positive outcome.”
