Hungry Cupboard Launch

PUPILS in Leigh learnt about the importance of helping others at the launch of their new “Hungry Cupboard” initiative, designed to help residents suffering hardship.

Youngsters at West Leigh School made donations at a special Harvest assembly.

The school was joined by Daniel Cauchi, centre manager at St Vincent’s Centre in Southend, a hub which provides hope and opportunity for the vulnerable of our community, alongside help with food and clothing.

Mr Cauchi said: “A huge thank you to the pupils, families and staff at West Leigh for their wonderful Harvest collection and for helping launch the Hungry Cupboard in Leigh!

“It was lovely to join your assembly and share how one little tin, brought together with others, can help put food on the table for people in our community.

“The Hungry Cupboard message is simple: if you can, add one or two extra items to your shopping basket to share with someone who needs support. Together, those small gifts make a real difference.

“At St Vincent’s Centre, Southend, your kindness helps us offer food, a warm welcome and support towards a brighter future.

“Everyone needs help sometimes, and everyone has kindness to give. Thank you, West Leigh, for putting yours into action!”
