THE Rayleigh Town Museum was visited by the local MP as they launched their new Railway Exhibition.
Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, was shown round the exhibition by museum director Mike Davies.
The exhibits showcase Rayleigh’s development through the train industry as a commuter town, through photographs memorabilia, and artefacts – a must for local enthusiasts and train spotters alike!
Whilst the items featured pertain locally to Rayleigh, they are an index of the industrial revolutions effects on towns all over the country.
Mr Francois said: “It is aways a pleasure to visit the fantastic Rayleigh Town Museum.
“My latest visit was to see the super exhibition on the history of the railway in Rayleigh.
“It was fascinating to learn about its significance to the evolution of the town in 1989.”
The exhibition runs until the end of March, with opening times of Wednesday, Friday and Saturday10am to 4pm, with free entry.
