A MAN has been charged and appeared in court after police were called to a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Rochford
Essex Police were called at around 6.50pm on Sunday June 30 with reports of a robbery at a convenience store in West Street.
The incident saw a man enter the shop and make off with cash.
Officers attended the scene and made an arrest as part of the investigation.
Jay Phipps, 37, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday July 6, where he was charged with robbery.
Following the hearing he was remanded in custody until further hearing on August 5.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “Officers have secured a change against a man after a a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Rochford
“We were contacted at about 6.50pm on Sunday June 30 with reports of a robbery at a convenience store in West Street.
“It was reported one suspect entered the shop and demanded cash, before leaving with a two-figure sum.”
