LEIGH Salvation Army held celebrations to mark 122 years of operation in the town.
The Salvation Army has had a presence in Leigh since 1902, and to celebrate the occasion, members of the congregation at the church on Elm Road held an evening of music, and a special Sunday service followed by a luncheon.
A spokesperson said: “This weekend we have celebrated 122 years of The Salvation Army in Leigh on Sea. Last night we had an evening of music where we joined with Southend Songsters and band and had guest Soloist Neil Blessett.
“Our Sunday service was led by special guests Majors Barrie and Maria Sampson, with testimonies from some of our corps members from across the generations.
“This was followed by a faith lunch arranged by Natalie.
“A big thank you to everyone who was involved in this weekend. We thank you for your willingness and for all your hard work.”
