A LEIGH resident is making a call out for new members to join his monthly singing sessions at the Mayflower Pub in Old Leigh.
The session is a friendly meet up, and all are welcome, of all ages.
Mike Reeves, who hosts the club, said: “I have run the free sing-around for a few years now, with a view to try to encourage people to have a go.
“We sing any genre of song, including music hall, popular, old and new. songs from film and musicals, comedy, folk, and even light opera, with the possibility of acoustic accompaniment instruments.
The sessions take place at the Mayflower Pub on the first Wednesday of every month from 7pm to around 10pm.
The next session takes place on Wednesday, 4th September, followed the next month by Wednesday 2nd October.
Mike said: “We would love to see a few new faces.”
Mike is also a member of the Hoy and Anchor Folk Club, one of the longest running and most prestigious folk clubs in the country, and adds that attendees to the sing-around often become members of the former: “Several have graduated to singing at the Hoy and Anchor Folk Club,” he adds.
