SIR, please may I through your paper, draw attention to the appalling state of our local bus services?
You can stand at any bus stop and hear people complaining about long waits, buses not turning up or else turning up 2, 3 or 4 at a time within minutes of each other, when passengers have been waiting 20 minutes or more for just one of them!
We have three huge bus companies serving Southend and the surrounding area – 1st Essex, Arrival and Stephensons – and they just seem unwilling or unable to coordinate the frequency of their buses.
Southend is a city now and if we want to up tourism and help our city to shine then the transport needs sorting out.
It is infuriating turning up late for an appointment or work because the bus service is so poor.
