A GROUP of Leigh women are getting their dancing shoes on to help raise money for local causes.
Liberty Ladies, an amateur adult dance group, are taking to the stage of the Palace Theatre on June 15 to raise money for HARP’s Bradbury day centre and Carers First.
The group was formed by mothers of children attending Liberty Performing Arts in Leigh when, jealous of all the fun their children were having, they got together with teacher Emma Wright to create their own dance troupe.
Ms Wright, said: “When some of the dance mums expressed an interest in starting their own group, I was all in!
“Being a mum myself, I know the importance of finding time for yourself, where you can socialise, keep fit and generally let your hair down… so Liberty Ladies was born.
“We come from all walks of life. Some have dance experience, some don’t (well, they do now!) but what we all have in common is, we like a good laugh. I can honestly say that teaching this group of ladies is such a joy.
“We really have created something special and to do it all for two amazing, local charities makes it even more meaningful and worthwhile.”
The group meet at West Leigh Baptist Church, in the heart of Leigh on a Wednesday night. If you’d like to support them and make their ‘blushes’ worthwhile come along to the dance show or sponsor them on: justgiving.com/team/libertyladies.
