Liberty Ladies Perform

A GROUP of local mums are swapping the school run for the spotlight this summer, as the Liberty Ladies – an amateur adult dance group – prepare to perform at the Palace Theatre on 28 June, raising funds for local charity Safe Steps.
Inspired by watching their children enjoy classes at Liberty Performing Arts, the mums approached teacher Emma Wright to start a group of their own. What began as a fun way to keep fit and socialise has, two years later, grown into a confident troupe ready to take centre stage.
For one afternoon only, audiences can expect an energetic dance medley featuring iconic hits from Tina Turner and Shania Twain, performed with enthusiasm, humour and heart.
Emma Wright, former professional dancer and founder of Liberty Performing Arts, said: “When some of the dance mums expressed an interest in starting their own group, I was all in.
“As a mum myself, I understand how important it is to have time for yourself – to socialise, stay active and simply enjoy something that’s just for you. That’s how Liberty Ladies was born.
“Over two years on, we’ve become much more than a dance group, we’re a supportive community. Everyone arrives with their own challenges, and within minutes there’s laughter and supportive hugs! It’s incredibly special.
“This year’s show theme is Tenacity, celebrating strong women through music and dance. That’s why we’ve chosen to support Safe Steps so that women facing difficult times can feel empowered and supported.”
