THE Leigh Conservation and Heritage Society have installed a history board in the Library Gardens, designed to help residents and visitors learn more about the past of the popular beauty spot.
The project was the result of Coun Valerie Morgan’s collaboration with the archivists of the Leigh Conservation and Heritage Society, Jennifer and Ed Simpson.
Valerie said: “Jennifer and Ed produced so much information, most of which is accessible in the Heritage Centre in the Old Town, it was extremely difficult to whittle it down to fit on a board!
“With their help plus a fellow Friends of Leigh Library Gardens volunteer we eventually came up with the current layout.
“Andy McGuiness of SEDO Ltd agreed to produce the board for us and it is now permanently installed in the gardens for the public to learn more about the past history of the gardens.”
