A MAN has denied murdering a woman at a property in Leigh.
Sharon Butler, 64, was found with serious injuries in a garden on Whitehouse Meadows, Leigh, on 7 November last year.
Essex Police were called following a report of an assault, and located a woman who had sustained serious injuries in the garden of a property.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Sharon Butler, of Leigh, died at the scene.
Kevin Shepherd, of Whitehouse Meadows, pleaded not guilty to one count of murder at Basildon Crown Court.
The 54-year-old was remanded in custody and told he would stand trial from May 7.
In a statement, Ms Butler’s family previously described her as a “loving daughter and sister” who would “never” be forgotten.
They said: “Our world has been shattered by the loss of our loving daughter and sister.
“Our lives will never be the same without her.”
