THE Mayor of Southend is holding his annual charity Mayors Christmas lunch, which is raising money for Havens Hospice and the Music Man Project.
Thus year, the event will be held at the Genting Casino in Western Esplanade on Thursday December 7 at 12.30pm.
There were questions over whether the event could go ahead following the temporary closure of the venue after the discovery of crumble risk concrete within the building’s roof fabric.
Genting Casino, shut its doors on November 3 as an investigation was launched into the presence of RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete), a building material used widely in Britain between the 1950s and 1990s.
The casino has since been told it an reopen, meaning the charity event can go ahead.
Places are still available for the two course lunch with bubbles on arrival and mince pies, tea or coffee to finish.
Each ticket is £30, and includes entertainment from the trio the Ballbelles.
A spokesperson from the council said: “We are pleased to announce that this event at Genting Casino Westcliff is still going ahead following the fantastic news that they can now re-open.
“Join the Mayor for a sumptuous festive lunch with entertainment.
“Please do come along, for what promises to be an excellent afternoon of festive fun, and help support the Mayor’s nominated charities.”
