A SERVICE was held at Leigh’s War Memorial in Eastwood to honour Remembrance Day.
This year, the service was attended by the Leigh and Southend West MP David Burton-Sampson, the Mayor Coun Woodley and councillors of the area.
Wreaths were laid by them and Leigh Lions.
Stephen Aylen of Belfairs Residents Association said: “Every year for the last 103 years there has been a service at Leigh’s War Memorial that happens to be in Eastwood.

“Originally it was proposed to move the Leigh Memorial, but it was proposed to build a hall that could be used all year round.
“During the war years the hall was an important feeding station and the services were held outside.”
