MARK Francois has thanked a group of dedicated local volunteers, for their work in helping care for elderly residents, suffering from memory loss.
Rayleigh & Wickford MP, Mr Francois, praised the volunteers at the ‘Memory Lane Cafe’, which is held at the Hockley and Hawkwell Community Centre, once a month, to assist people suffering from memory loss.
As well as providing a lunch, the dedicated team of helpers provide puzzles, games and usually a singer, which often helps to stimulate happy memories of yesteryear.
Speaking about his recent visit, Mr Francois said: “I would like to commend Hawkwell resident, Ian Foster and his dedicated team of around a dozen volunteers for providing this very valuable service, which helps residents struggling with memory loss.
“I spoke to a number of their ‘regular customers’ and their families during my visit, all of whom were genuinely grateful for both the activities and the companionship which the cafe provides. It is really heartening to see such a worthwhile organisation operating in my constituency – well done to all concerned.”
