A MOTHER is enjoying the success of her dream business idea after her indoor play centre has gone from strength to strength.
Little Play Village, in London Road, Hadleigh, opened in mid-November, and offers a charming wooden painted village with a post office, hair salon, nursery, construction site, supermarket and vets, and wooden Montessori furniture.
This facility is the brainchild of Hadleigh mother Holly Woodford, who noticed a lack of educational parent-friendly indoor activities when she had her own child two years ago.
She explained: “After returning to work post-maternity, I decided to turn my vision into reality.
“Little Play Village provides a safe, imaginative role-play area for little ones and a cosy spot for parents to relax with coffee and cake, designed to be more inviting and family-friendly than typical play centres.”
Since opening, the centre has been fully booked, with the experience being something of a “whirlwind” for Ms Woodford.
“I expected the first few weeks to be busy, but we’ve had people coming in five or six times now. We’ve got a little community of regulars, but everyone seems to love it, she added.
So popular is Little Play Village that children have been crying as they don’t want to leave, so Ms Woodford has started bringing helpful measures for parents, such as putting the toys to sleep with the children.
Ms Woodford, who quit her demanding 9-5 office job to focus on building Little Play Village is enjoying the change of pace, and is glad to bring something the constructive principles of Montessori to Hadleigh.
She said: “I learnt from my own daughter just how good Montessori play is in the development of children. She had all of the plastic toys, but has always been drawn to role play.
“It’s not just fun for the children, but also really good for their social and motor development”.
Little Play Village is open Monday to Friday, with four play slots throughout the day.
The venue can also be booked for exclusive birthday party and event hire on Saturdays.
