A LEIGH runner has completed an extraordinary endurance challenge, running a total of 500 miles throughout January to raise funds for the men’s health charity, Movember.
Tim Whitcombe, an architect, father, and the men’s captain of Benfleet Running Club, set himself the ambitious task of running the date in miles every day—culminating in a 31-mile run on January 31.
With an additional parkrun on New Year’s Day, his total mileage reached an astonishing 500 miles for the month.
Mr Whitcombe said: “This challenge was a major test of endurance, but also a meaningful effort to support men’s health initiatives.”
At time of writing, Mr Whitcombe’s fundraising amount had reached £2,253, which includes some £100 direct donations.
The fundraiser not only pushed his physical limits, but also raised vital awareness for men’s health.
Movember is a global charity dedicated to tackling issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.
