MP’s Chess Friendly - A SOUTH Essex MP took part in a competition between MPs and members of the Armed Forces, held at Westminster.

A SOUTH Essex MP took part in a competition between MPs and members of the Armed Forces, held at Westminster.
Mark Francois, who is also the Shadow Armed Forces Minister, turned out to play for the House of Commons in a friendly match against the Armed Forces Chess Association, although he lost his individual match, against a captain in the Intelligence Corps.
Commenting on the event, Mr Francois said: “I used to play chess a lot at school, but I am clearly rather rusty, as the Army captain I was up against beat me fair and square. Nevertheless, it was good to be part of an event that celebrates the links between Parliament and the Armed Forces.
“Maybe I’ll win the rematch, next year!”
