Murderously Funny Evening

A MURDEROUSLY funny evening of family secrets, supernatural surprises and theatrical twists is heading to Southend’s Palace Theatre this November, with Carla Mendonça and Rufus Hound leading the cast.
The action centres on celebrated TV medium Darius Divine, presenter of the light-entertainment show The Other Side, who is expecting a quiet family dinner.
Instead, the evening takes an unexpected turn when his pregnant lover arrives, alongside a Gilbert and Sullivan-obsessed mother-in-law.
As strange visitations begin and long-held secrets emerge, the boundaries between what is real and what is performed become increasingly blurred.
With tensions mounting and revelations coming thick and fast, the dinner descends into chaos, before a final twist changes everything.
Carla Mendonça is known for roles in Coronation Street, My Parents Are Aliens and So Awkward, as well as stage work with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Rufus Hound has appeared in productions including One Man, Two Guvnors, The Wind in the Willows and The Mesmerist.
The producers describe the show as “funny, shocking and deliciously unsettling”, promising an evening that moves between comedy and suspense.
The Other Side of Murder plays the Palace Theatre, Southend, from November 9-14, 2026.
Tickets are available at www.southendtheatres.org.uk or from the Box Office on 03433 1000 30.
