Music Man Project - Musicians from a well-loved charity graced the stage of the Royal Albert Hall

Musicians from a well-loved charity graced the stage of the Royal Albert Hall for a remarkable concert, where they were joined by musical theatre icon Michael Ball.

The Music Man Project, established in Leigh by David Stanley, showcased their talent at the prestigious venue on the evening of Monday, April 8, alongside vocalists from South Essex choirs Southend Vox and Love2Sign.

Members from the multi-award-winning and record-breaking musical charity for individuals with disabilities, the performance featured a collaboration with the Royal Marines Band and patron Michael Ball.

The concert was a grand spectacle, with over 700 performers, including the 250 members of the Music Man Project, taking centre stage.

Mr Stanley said: “It was a stupendous success. The Music Man Project students loved it. They sang, danced and played their hearts out for more than two hours.

“The presence of the world-renowned Royal Marines Band and our amazing patron Michael Ball lifted them to even greater heights.

“Despite being at the Royal Albert Hall for 11 hours, they never stopped smiling and when the show started, they gave it everything.

“I proudly pay tribute to the Music Man Project students, the community choirs, the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines, special guests, staff, carers, and volunteers who all made it possible.

“This was two years in the making, and it showed that music is a universal language with the power to bring people together.”

During the concert, Anna Firth, MP for Southend West, presented Mr Stanley with MP Rishi Sunak’s Points of Light award to recognise his efforts “to make positive change in the community”.

She said: “I was honoured to present him with the award on behalf of the PM during the concert. I am so delighted that David Stanley has been recognised by the Prime Minister for the wonderful work he has done with the Music Man Project.

“For many years, David has devoted his time to helping vulnerable groups and people with learning difficulties access the joy of music and experience the thrill of performing in front of a live audience.”
