DAVID Burton-Sampson, MP for Southend West & Leigh, is backing the government’s drive for a National Youth Strategy.

Young people are being urged to get involved and join in a nationwide survey, telling the government what they would like to see. This will form the basis of a government strategy to be published in the summer.

The MP wants to make sure that young people from Southend West and Leigh don’t miss out. He has asked local schools and youth groups to get involved. He said: “I am calling all ten to 19- year-olds and those up to 25 years of age with Special Educational Needs, to come forward and take part in our national youth survey.

“Let’s talk about the challenges you face and the priorities for your future.

“We really want to hear your thoughts.

“It’s about telling us what services are going to impact your future. So, I call on all young people to take the survey now.”

“For far too long, young people have not had a say in the policies and the services that affect them directly. This gives them that opportunity”.

The MP added that the availability of youth services can have a significant impact on the lives of young people. The Deliver You survey is open until April 16th.
