RESIDENTS in Leigh and Southend will soon benefit from an improved bus service, thanks to a new route introduced by First Bus in partnership with Southend Council.

Paul Collins Councillor for Eastwood Park announced that, starting on April 22, a new 3A bus service will run hourly during the day from Leigh Town Centre to Southend, operating Monday to Saturday.

 Coun Collins said: “Good news.

“I am pleased to announce that from April 22, First Bus and Southend Council are putting in a new bus service from Leigh Town Centre to Southend by way of Elmsleigh Drive up to St. James’ Church and then right into Blenheim Chase to Southend Hospital North side and Victoria Avenue.

“It is numbered the 3A and will run hourly during the day, Monday to Saturday.”

The 3A service will complement the existing Essex County Council-supported Number 3 bus, offering a more frequent and convenient connection to Southend Hospital.

“Coun Collins added: “This will give a regular service to the Hospital area, as many people have asked for.”
