A NEW Community Foodbank has just been launched in Rayleigh.
The project has been set up by members of The Celestial Church of Christ on Eastwood Road.
Rayleigh Town Council Chairman Danielle Belton helped cut the ribbon on the day of the opening, which was supported by local groups including Rayleigh MegaCentre, Hopewrox and BRAVS.
Posting on Facebook on the day of the opening, Coun Danielle Belton said: “Rayleigh has a new Food Bank run by the wonderful group at The Celestial Church of Christ on Eastwood Road.
“Today was the official launch and was supported by lots of local groups.
“Donations can be made to the Church on Wednesdays and the Pantry is open every other Saturday from today between 12-3 where residents can shop from a variety of groceries no questions asked.
“The lovely local members will be on hand to chat and [offer] support.”
