New Parking Charges - UPDATED parking charges will be introduced across the Southend City from the start of April.
UPDATED parking charges will be introduced across the Southend City from the start of April.
Some of the key changes include:
Capped evening parking charges at £5 between 6pm and 9pm, down from the current £9. A 44% reduction.
A new winter tariff for November to January in the central seafront area.
Capping all-day parking charges on the seafront at £20 in Zone 1A. This is a reduction of £5 from the current £25. A 20% reduction.
A new commuter tariff of £6 per day (Southend Pass customers only at specified locations).
The Southend Pass subscription cost will also be frozen at £12.50 per month or £125 per year, while the Tradesperson Permit will remain at £60 per month or £600 per year.
Coun Daniel Cowan, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Corporate Strategy, said: “We said we would deliver a reduced winter tariff, and we have, but we haven’t stopped there.
“We’ve lowered evening and all day parking charges, as well as introduce a commuter offer and also frozen the popular Southend Pass and the Tradesperson Permit fees at £12.50 and £60 per month respectively.
“These measures aim to make parking more efficient, affordable, and accessible across the city whilst enabling us to double investment into our roads and pavements to a total of £13m.”
Before leaving your vehicle, the council advises you to check the parking signage to ensure compliance and visit the council’s website for full details.
