A Southend Airport spokesman said: “The countdown is on. It’s less than a month until flights to Faro with easyJet start.

“According to a new Holiday Money Report from Post Office Travel Money, the Algarve in Portugal has become the short-haul destination offering UK holidaymakers the best value for money this summer.

“Flights every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday starting May 1.”

Playground Consultation

Residents are encouraged to take part in a consultation on the refurbishment of playgrounds, including Belfairs Park and Chalkwell Park.

Southend Council, in collaboration with Ground Control Professional Services, is seeking resident input on proposed playground improvements across the city’s parks.

Planned refurbishments include the addition of new playground equipment, improved pathways, maintenance of existing structures, better safety standards, integration with natural surroundings and improved biodiversity and better air quality, and inclusivity and better accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

The consultation closes at 5 pm on Monday 6 May 2024. To participate, visit Your Say Southend.
