THE deadline to submit Rochford Citizen of the Year nominations is fast approaching! The deadline is Friday 21 February to nominate someone special for the Citizen of the Year awards.
Organised by Rochford District Council, the Citizen of the Year Awards are a chance to recognise and celebrate the incredible contributions of individuals who go above and beyond to make a difference. From offering essential support to vulnerable residents to tirelessly volunteering and fostering community spirit, this is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the local heroes who inspire.
Coun Sarah Jane Page, Chair of Rochford District Council, said: “We are proud to host the Citizen of the Year Awards, a chance to celebrate the incredible people who make Rochford District such a special place.
“These awards highlight the selflessness, passion and commitment of individuals who truly embody the spirit of our community. I encourage all residents to take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary people around them and submit their nominations today, your nomination could make all the difference in giving someone the recognition they deserve.”
The categories are:
Young Citizen (under 18)
The Council believe in nurturing the next generation of leaders and community champions. The Young Citizen of the Year award is dedicated to recognising the exceptional contributions of young individuals under the age of 18 who have shown remarkable dedication to improving our community.
Charitable Support (over 18)
The Charitable Support category is open to citizens of all ages who have made significant contributions to charitable causes in the Rochford District. Whether through fundraising, volunteer work, or other charitable endeavours, The Council aims to acknowledge those who have made a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Community Spirit (over 18)
The Community Spirit category celebrates citizens of all ages who have displayed unwavering dedication to enhancing the sense of community in Rochford District. Whether it’s through organising events, fostering inclusivity, or initiating projects that bring people together, this award recognises those who embody the true spirit of community.
Carer of the Year
This new category recognises individuals of all ages who selflessly dedicate themselves to supporting others within the district. It honours those who not only fulfil care duties but also go above and beyond, embodying kindness, compassion and a profound commitment to making a difference.
The nominations close on Friday 21 February and will be considered by the panel of judges. The awards will be presented at the Civic Dinner hosted by the Chair of Rochford District Council at the Mill Arts and Event Centre on Friday, 28 March.
