Paddle Seamer Returns - THE popular paddle steamer The Waverley will be launching trips from Southend Pier this September.

THE popular paddle steamer The Waverley will be launching trips from Southend Pier this September.

The Waverley, which is the world’s last seagoing paddle streamer, will be resuming operations from Friday, September 22.

This follows the resounding success of the 2022 programme, which saw fully booked cruises and numerous delighted passengers set sail on the Thames.

This year, The Waverley will offer a range of sailings from Southend Pier, including voyages to notable destinations such as London Tower Bridge, the Maunsell Forts, Clacton, Gravesend, as well as captivating River Blackwater and River Medway cruises.

One of the highlights of this year’s programme is the participation of Waverley in a Historic Ships Parade on Saturday, September 30.

This event will bring together several historic vessels, including the Steam Tug Challenge, X-Pilot, Vic 96, and Touchstone.

Additionally, on Sunday, September 24, and Saturday, October 7, The Waverley will embark on a river Medway cruise, providing an opportunity to view the Paddle Steamer Medway Queen at her berth in Gillingham.

For those unable to partake in a full day cruise, The Waverley also offers the option of joining an evening cruise on the Thames.

Sailings from Southend Pier are September 22, 24, 26, 28, 29 and 30. October dates are: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Full details of the trips can be found at bit.ly/44hMqwW.

Bookings are open for all London and Thames cruises and can be booked online or by calling 0141 243 2224, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm.
