SIR, how comforting that City Coun Kevin Buck, Transport Guru, has apparently discovered the No.3 bus route that First Bus put in place to cover the removal of the previous No.21 service in Leigh.

He and others may not realise that the No.3 has been in place for some months now, that local residents are using taxi’s to get to hospital or Leigh Broadway, that the No.3 schedule published on page 22 (not 24) of the recent Leigh News shows gaps of up to three hours in the service or that the congestion on Southbourne and Westbourne Groves is exacerbated by the revised No.21, originally through Elmsleigh Drive and Blenheim Chase.

These considerations have not been addressed and I would be happy to provide Coun Buck with some real evidence of the poor decision to shift these services.

Meanwhile a grateful Coun Bernard Arscott, Leigh Town Council Chair, again questions the veracity of the remaining Independent Councillors and the record of those serving from the 1990’s.

Oh dear, must we re-open this again. Suffice it to say that we have a shaky Conservative Government, a minority Conservative City Council and a historically neutral Town Council, in which all Committees are now held by Tory members, pre-empted before the meeting to select those Committee members, whose clear intention through Extraordinary meetings excluding non-committee councillors, is to turn Leigh Town Council into some enclave that nobody voted for.

I am glad the first few weeks have been without controversy (?).
